About the project

Why OofS exists, what it aims to achieve, and how an Erasmus+ Sport partnership across four countries is making sport a vehicle for sustainability.

Why Olympics of Sustainability exists

Many young people care deeply about the environment, yet few are physically active, and fewer still connect the two. Surveys across Europe show a wide gap between caring about sustainability and acting on it, and that gap is widest among teenagers. Olympics of Sustainability was created to close it, by making sustainable action something you do with your body, your team and your community, not just something you read about.

Sport as a vehicle for sustainability

OofS sits at the intersection of two challenges: low physical activity and the need for everyday climate action. Instead of treating them separately, the project turns sustainability into a game. Sport provides the energy and the teamwork. Sustainability provides the purpose. Together they create habits that last beyond the event.

Olympics of Sustainability

Our objectives

Increase participation

Get more young people active by building sustainability into physical activities.

Encourage green behaviour

Use sport challenges to make sustainable choices a habit, with a target of 50% of participants adopting new behaviours.

Strengthen inclusion

Make sure at least 30% of participants are young women and people with disabilities.

Build a model that lasts

Create a free, replicable toolkit so the idea spreads far beyond the project.
